Virtuosos of Juggling is nicely printed and bound. The scholarly thoroughness is to be commended. The photos are historically important. The emphasis on both training and transcendent elements of relationship with audiences is insightful and incites the self-discipline and enthusiasm that create the core of the performing arts. The translation efforts from Italian show great diligence. The book does have a detracting aspect in the fixation on fixation (as opposed to the clean enchantment and wonder the mysteries of juggling does evoke) most easily seen in the way some of the modernist abstract performers, who's oddity is really a distraction rather than greatness, are excessively celebrated and honored. If you can filter that confusion, Virtuosos of Juggling is worth reading. This is a much needed article but when taken off the prize shelf and thoroughly examined this drawback flaw is obvious though very difficult to clearly put into words. I have 3 copies of the book and will keep them despite the issue. In Japanese, Wabi Sabi means the beauty of imperfection. In English, we have no such word or concept. Flaws are part of the grand scheme of the universe and the times of our world.
