I am a rank begginner, and participated in a few "MeetUp" juggling sessions organized by a fellow trying to "start up" juggling in our town. I'd been juggling tennis balls for a few weeks, and the organizer suggested I purchase proper juggling balls, especially Russian balls. For my first purchase, I orderd 3 each of: Play Stage Ball, 70 mm, purple; Play Stage Ball, 78 mm, orange; Radfactor Premium Russian Ball, 65 mm, mixed colors. All three types are great, and significantly better than tennis balls. From the base of my hand to tip of middle finger, my hand measures 7 1/2". The Play Stage Ball, 70 mm, purple, is a little hard to see when I practice on a cloudy afternoon or evening. The surface has just the right amount of "grippiness" for good catching and throwing. I often practice outside on grass, and small bits of debris adhere to the surface which can be ever so slightly distracting. This 70 mm ball is lighter than the 78 mm ball, and I can pracice throwing the balls higher to improve my throwing accuracy. Of the three types of balls I first purchased, I like the Play Stage Ball, 78 mm, Orange, the best. The bright orange makes it easy to see, which helps with catching. I like the larger size and heavier weight - they just feel good when throwing and catching. They seem to have the same grippy surface as the 70 mm balls, so I try to keep them clean after dropping on the grass. The 65 mm Radfactor Premium Russian Balls are the smallest of the 3 types I ordered - and they're "interesting" because about 1/5th of the interior of the ball is filled with a fine silica sand (I think that's what it is) and thus the force of the ball landing in the palm of my hand is concentrated at the very bottom of the sphere (rather than the force/weight of the ball being evenly distrubuted about the entire sphere for the other two types of balls I tried). This does make a difference - I think it makes it easier to catch and throw the ball - which could be useful for someone just learning to juggle. For me, a larger size Russian juggling ball might be even better to help learn at the very beginning. I've already learned to juggle 3 balls pretty well (I'm really happy with my progress) and I prefer the larger balls over the 65 mm balls (I might try a larger diameter ball, but I suspect 78 mm will still be my favorite). If I ever try to learn a different 3 ball pattern, or try 4 or more balls, I think I would try a larger diameter Russian Ball to help learn.

My son is an 11 year old who has been juggling for a few years but just the past year has started to really hone in on his skills. These balls are perfect for him. Durable, a great size and weight, and he really likes the feel of them. Shipping was fast even during the pandemic
